I had the opportunity to visit Uncle Jim with my (step) mother Annette (Nettie) Adams Lanius when I was a young girl. He was a good man who treated my sister and I like family, even though we were "step" kids. I will always remember that. We weren't related by blood, but he treated us like family. I pray for his family and wish them well.

I'm sure sorry to hear about Uncle Jim and I am thinking of you all. My first memory of him was when I was 4 years old and I was staying with Aunt Leora. Uncle Jim came back from the navy and he was driving a new convertible car. Aunt Leora said look at Uncle Jim's new car Linda. I said that's not a car, she said why not, and I said because it doesn't have a top and it's going to get all wet inside. We went round and round until Uncle Jim came in the house, she handed me to him and said your girl here doesn't think that you are driving a car. He chuckled and said why not, and I told him the same thing and he said after we eat, he would take us for a ride and show me that the top would go up! It was getting dark by the time we finished eating, and when we got in the car he told me to look towards the back, it was dark back there. All I could see was a shadow, so naturally I thought it was a monster coming up over us, so I hollered at Patty to come up in the front so that it couldn't get her!! They all LAUGHED at me! My second memory was when he got leave form the navy to come to my high school graduation. My last memory was when he came to my 60th birthday party. I want Aunt Lou and the girls to know I am thinking of them. Love Linn
