Obituary of Erma Adamson

Erma Maxine Adamson, age 97, died on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Homestead Health and Rehabilitation Center in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on January 15, 1918 in Minneola, Kansas, the daughter of Birt Eli and Maude Ward Adamson. Erma graduated from Garden City High School in 1935; from Garden City Junior College in 1937; and the Kansas State Teachers College of Emporia in 1963. She worked as a kindergarten/elementary teacher for 34 years before retiring in 1971. 1937-1938 she taught at Antrim and St. John Schools, 1938 - 1940 Pleasant Valley Schools in Haskell County; 1940-1957 she taught in the Garden City School District, and from 1957-1971 she taught kindergarten at Ridgeview Elementary School in Prairie Village, Kansas. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, many committees at the the methodist church and was a member of the original Finney County Transit Planning Board both of Garden City, Kansas. Survivors include: Many Cousins across the nation She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Cecil Birt Adamson, and Leland Dale Adamson; and a close friend Fern Greathouse. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City, Kansas. Interment will be held at St. John Cemetery on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29 and from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday September 30. Memorials are suggested to the Adamson Family Memorial Building Fund at the First United Methodist Church in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St. Garden City, Kansas 67846.
