Sarah Irene Grayson, age 99, moved to Heaven on Sunday, August 24, 2014 from Greeley County Health Center in Tribune, Kansas. Sarah began her life’s journey in the Grand Junction area of Tennessee on July 16, 1915, the daughter of Richard & Irene Hood Phinessee. On February 18, 1940, Sarah married Rev. Nelson Grayson, Sr. in Memphis, Tennessee. Sarah worked as a nurse assistant and after Nelson returned from his tour of duty with the United States Army, the family moved to Towner, Colorado, where they raised their extended family. After Rev. Grayson’s retirement in 1974, the family moved to Tribune, Kansas, and in 1976 Sarah completed her lifelong dream, desire and passion, earning her GED in the Continuing Education Program from Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas. The Rev. Grayson passed away on September 19, 1998 at Tribune, Kansas. Sarah loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Sarah was enthusiastic about sharing her faith with her family. At all family gatherings, she would encourage each family member to start a personal relationship with Christ. Iva and Sarah faithfully returned to Tribune every month in order to enjoy worshipping with her Assembly of God Church family. Sarah favorite accomplishments were growing a humongous beet, riding in the Greeley County Fair Parade, playing piano in church, learning to type, baking and decorating cakes, parenting her cat, Miss Dolly, earning college credits and annually reading her Bible in it entirety.
