Obituary of Margaret Katherine Stoppel

Margaret K. Stoppel, age 93, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Lakepoint Augusta Assisted Living Center in Augusta, Kansas. She was born on March 29, 1921 in Scott County, Kansas, the daughter of Edgar K. & Flora Bockelman Strickert. Margaret’s father passed away when she was just 6 years old. Flora later married August Ehmke who raised her. She was a lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas until 2010 moving to Augusta, Kansas. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City, Kansas. On June 23, 1940 she married Melvin Leo Stoppel in Dighton, Kansas. He passed away on December 19, 2002 in Scott City, Kansas. Survivors include her One Daughter - Marcine A. Gorman of Augusta, Kansas, One Son - Darrel L. Stoppel of Lurgan, Northern Ireland, One Sister - Velma Yost of Dighton, Kansas, Six Grandchildren - Darin Stoppel of Casper, Wyoming, Dale Stoppel of Casper, Wyoming, Karen Magill of Portadown, Northern Ireland, Christine Scott of Lurgan, Northern Ireland, Joe Weisenberger of Moreno Valley, California, Michele Eberle of Ellis, Kansas, Fourteen Great Grandchild and Four Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, One Son - Leon Stoppel, One Brother - Albert Ehmke and One Sister - Hilda Thomason. Funeral Services will be held at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City, Kansas at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 with Pastor Warren Prochnow. Memorials may be given to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City, Kansas % Price & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be held at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
