Obituary of Goldie Nelson

Goldie E. Nelson, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on September 2, 1919 at home in Wichita County, Kansas, the daughter of Samuel and Dora Norton Wing. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1951 moving from Lindsborg, Kansas, she was a homemaker, type setter at the News Chronicle for 17 years and church secretary. Her memberships include the First Baptist Church of Scott City, Kansas where she was an active member. She served as the church secretary for many years and was also member of the Quilt Group and the Goldie Circle/Mary Martha Circle and ABW including holding all officer positions. On December 24, 1945 she married Eugene R. Nelson in Leoti, Kansas. He passed away on November 20, 1981 in Scott City, Kansas. Survivors Include One Daughter - Donna & Roger Kaiser of Dodge City, Kansas, One Son - Dan & Kandy Nelson of Stephenville, Texas, One Sister - Vera Walton of Sterling, Kansas, Five Grandsons Darin & Teresa Hart of Wichita, Kansas, Jason & Julia Hart of Wichita, Kansas, Cory & Teresa Nelson of Texas, Clint & Mia Nelson of Stephenville, Texas, Clay Nelson of Stephenville, Texas, One Step Granddaughter - Renee & Mike Kappus of Broomfield, Colorado, and Eight Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Two Brothers - Willard Wing & Clifford Wing, and Six Sisters - Esther Smith, Edna Bartel, Mary Ann Schaumeyer, Carrie Neville, Mildred Metheney, and Mable Grusing.
