Obituary of Joyce Lewis

Leoti, Kansas Joyce Eileen Lewis, age 65, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. Joyce was born October 18, 1948 at Hutchinson, Kansas, the daughter of Russell & Zita Page Darling. Joyce was a 1971 graduate of Sterling College, earning a degree in Education. A resident of Leoti, Kansas since 1971 moving from Alden, Kansas, she was a teacher, retiring in 2009. Joyce was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leoti, Kansas as well as Xi Theta Theta Sorority. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Wichita County Health Center. On June 8, 1974 she married Lonnie Lewis in Leoti, Kansas. Joyce's surviving family includes- Her Husband Lonnie Lewis- Leoti, Kansas Three Children- Troy & Laura Lewis- Scott City, Kansas Russell & Darla Lewis- Leoti, Kansas Heather Holstein- Scott City, Kansas Four siblings- Bill & Janice Darling- Alden, Kansas Dixie & Larry Profitt- Sterling, Kansas Ronnie & Jane Darling- Stanford, Texas Curt & Cindy Darling- Alden, Kansas Sisters in Law- Bonnie & Skip Harkness- Dallas, Texas Lyn Lewis- Leoti, Kansas Six Grandchildren- Jackson, Jaden & Avery Lewis- Scott City, Kansas Kennedy, Brodie & Kayden Holstein- Scott City, Kansas Her parents, a niece, Barb Stutz, a nephew, Michael Darling and a Brother in Law, Eugene ( Shorty ) Lewis, Jr. precede her in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Gary Salmans officiating. Interment will be in Leoti Cemetery at Leoti, Kansas. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Monday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Leoti EMT's or The Wichita County Amusement Association in care of the funeral home.
