Obituary of Melvena Rieth

Melvena Fern Rieth, age 79, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born February 22, 1935 in Pierceville, Kansas, the daughter of John Frederick & Minnie Marie Bates Husband. A lifetime resident of Pierceville, she had been a beautician for 42 years before working for Arkvalley Pheasant. She was a member of the Pierceville Federated Church in Pierceville, Kansas. She was also a member of Kansas State Hatchers Association, North American Game Bird Association & Home Demonstration Unit. On July 19, 1953, she married Wayne Henry Rieth in Tangier, Oklahoma. He survives. Other Survivors Include: One Daughter, Lisa Irwin of Pierceville, Kansas; One Son, Edward Rieth of Garden City, Kansas; Two Sisters, Thelma M. Wells of Goddard, Kansas, and Claudette (& Vern) Beavers of Pierceville, Kansas; One Brother, Billy D. (& Phyllis) Husband of Kingwood, Texas; Six Grandchildren and Three Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, James F. & C.E. Husband, and three sisters, Mary B. Hutton, M. Pearl McDonald & Betty VanBuskirk. Funeral Services will be held at 3:30pm on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Pierceville Federated Church in Pierceville, Kansas. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00pm on Sunday and 10am-Noon on Monday @ the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Interment will be in the Pierceville Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the church in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
