Obituary of Vera Buckbee

Vera Mae Buckbee, age 84, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Via Christie in Wichita, Kansas. She was born on October 22, 1929 in Scott County, Kansas, the daughter of Edward and Pauline Burr Schmitt. Vera was raised by her grandparents, Mr & Mrs Gottlieb Burr and was a resident of Scott City, Kansas until 1985. She worked at Duckwalls in both Scott City and Garden City, Kansas, Alco in Hutchinson, Kansas & Ben Franklin in Hutchinson, Kansas & Lusk, Wyoming. She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City, Kansas. On April 28 1946 she married Lyle Marker. On August 17, 1968 she married William A. Buckbee in Scott City, Kansas. He passed away on February 10, 1980 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Survivors Include her One Son - Larry Buckbee of Wichita, Kansas, Three Daughters - Luella Beemer of Sterling, Kansas, Claudia Easter of Port Richey, Florida, Connie Hawver of Hutchinson, Kansas, One Half Brother - Max Hasz of Wichita, Kansas, One Half Sister - Burna Stephens of Newton, Kansas, Numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, One Daughter - Beverly Oliver, One Brother - Kenneth Burr, a Step Father, and a Step Brother. Graveside Services will be held at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 with Pastor Warren Prochnow. Memorials may be given to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church % Price & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
