It was only a few days ago (5-23-15) that I was made aware of the death of your beloved husband and father, Randy Fahrenholtz. It is with great sadness and many fond memories that I send you these condolences. I grew up in the Sylvia and Hays Township communities. Randy was in the Sylvia class behind me (1968)....his brother,Dan, was in my sister, Ann's class (1964). We were in 4-H together, showed our cattle together, rode the school bus every day together and Randy and I played our trombones next to each other in band. I remember Randy as very polite, mature, bright and most pleasant and enjoyable to be around. I had little contact with Randy in our adult lives but always heard about his whereabouts, successes and accomplishments from friends and family members. I did see him once or twice when we were both living in Wichita. My wife and I live near our family in St. Joseph, MO and still get out to the home place on the farm in Sylvia. God bless your family! Dear Janice, I am truly sorry for your loss. I never told your husband this, but he is the reason I decided to come practice in Syracuse. He impressed me by flying to Garden City for dinner during my interview visit. I knew that if he was willing to go through that much inconvenience then this was the type of doctor that I wanted to work with. I enjoyed working and learning from him, he was truly a caring person.

Janice, my heart is numb. I have thought of you and Randy and your family so often through the years. I have so many memories of my YOU years of both you and Randy just being THERE wherever THERE was. He once went to a pharmacy during a regional competition to obtain something that I needed to help me through. I have never forgotten that. You and your family are in my thoughts during this time. You were my mentor. If I can ever do anything for you, I would be honored.

I worked with Randy and Dan at Kingman Community Hospital for many years as a Respiratory Therapist, before that I spent many hours at their family farm with their sister Vicki in Sylvia. I loved playing in the barn and watching the sheep. I am so sorry for the loss of a very dear friend and the best Doctor you could ever look up to besides Dr. Dan.

Dear Janice, I was so shocked and saddened to hear about Randy's death. You both were a huge part of my teen years and I have so many fond memories. I've always thought a lot of you and Randy and you both will always hold a special place in my heart. He will be greatly missed. I remember him playing the piano so beautifully and his smile and sense of humor. There aren't words that we can adequately say to help ease your pain. Just know that each and everyone that met and spent anytime at all with you and your family were the better for it. You are and will continue to be in my prayers in the coming days, weeks, and months ahead. Love you all!

Since the memory page is waiting for its first entry here goes! When I was planning my wedding 10 years ago I was anything but a bridezilla. In fact, I had very little decided and didn't mind if other people made choices for me. One thing, however, that I was adamant about: I was not walking down the aisle to the traditional "here comes the bride" tune. I knew I wanted live music though, so Mom asked Uncle Randy if he would play the piano. We went over and stood in Uncle Randy's study while he played cover to cover through a book of nice, classical music. Nothing sounded appealing to me. Then, I noticed a book of music by Gershwin. Just a few songs in we found "Someone to Watch Over Me." A pretty tune, but not that stately for a bridal processional! However, the day came and Uncle Randy played the opening notes so simply an beautifully that the song was transformed into a processional fit for any bride. The gift of Uncle Randy's music was one of the most memorable parts of the wedding for me.

I'm sure God has used Randy to touch many lives, both as a friend and as a Doctor. For us it has been special.
First in that small circle of friends in the Sylvia-Zenith area of which both my wife Marilyn and Randy were a part. Then that circle of friends expanded as Sterling College classmates which included both my wife and I AND a special new friend, Janice, who later became Randy's wife. For our family God strategically placed Randy into our lives at just the right time. First, by helping with the C-section birth of our son Aaron, then miraculously being at a college CC meet near Hillsboro, Ks and helping out when our son Aaron collapsed from heat exhaustion, providing his professional expertise, and his calming strength and peace for us. Then after moving to Tribune, correctly diagnosing some life threatening ailments for both my brother Paul and his wife Myrtle who live in Syracuse. We praise God for placing Randy into our lives and the gift of his friendship and love.
