During the summer of 1947 or 1948 there was a family dinner at Aunt Ruth's, where out-of-town relatives were being honored. After the dinner, Joan and I went outside to play. It was a hot summer afternoon, so after playing a while we noticed that the water in the cattle tank next to the windmill looked inviting. We took off our shoes and socks so we could cool our feet. Soon we had climbed in, oblivious to our Sunday dresses. When we were nicely cooled off we walked back to the house in our drenched, dripping dresses. We were just in time for the family picture of the 20 or so people there. Our mothers were NOT pleased with our untidy appearance. At the next family dinner, Joan's mother made sure she brought her swimming suit.

Our hearts are breaking at the loss of Joan. We are so thankful though to have shared lots of laughter and love with her at our resent Hobson Family reunion! Joan was such a good story teller and she knew a lot of the Hobson family history. We enjoyed hearing the stories that all of the family shared. Those memories will live on with us for years to come and we are grateful for them!
Much love from The Keith & Diane Langley family

Lifting all the family up in prayers and thoughts. I know we were all blessed to have known "Mrs. A". I have very fond memories of times together at church and in other activities. The whole family was great for taking people in and making them feel welcomed. The world was a better place and we all will miss her.

When Noman and I were moving from Garden City to Hays Joan helped me look at houses when we both came to Hays for the Sunflower Electric Board Christmas Dinner. Every house we looked at with a basement Joan would tell me that it would be a good place for my grown children to move back to home and live in! I said my girls are never moving back home. In her wisdom and with a slight smile and laugh in her voice she said...never say never! (By the way, they haven't moved home and it's been 9 years)
We have known Charles and Joan for over 25 years through our association with Sunflower Electric and the Presbyterian Church in Garden City. Joan was always glad to see us on the occasions our paths crossed. I will miss her loving spirit, the light of Christ in her eyes and her warm hugs!
Charles and family, our prayers are with you and we grieve with you. Heaven has truly received another saint!
Lovingly,
Noman and Elizabeth Williams
