Israel J. "Ray" Ramirez, age 71, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. He was born January 27, 1943 in Alleyton, Texas the son of Camilo & Janie Perez Ramirez. A longtime resident of Garden City he was a retired punch & saw operator for Heyco, Inc. in Garden City, Kansas. He was a member of the Garden City Bowling Association, and was an avid golfer and poker player. He married Frances Rayas on May 25, 1964 at Garden City, Kansas. She survives. Other Survivors include: Three Sons, Camilo "Ray Ray" (& Tara) Ramirez of Jacksonville, Florida, Alfred (& Kara) Ramirez of Newark, Delaware and Phat (& Thao) Pham of Fort Worth, Texas; One Daughter, Trina Esquivel (& Companion - Jorge) of Garden City, KS; Seven Grandsons, Isaac Esquivel of Garden City, KS, Romelo Ramirez of Newark, Delaware, Maeson Ramirez of Newark, Delaware, Miguel Ramirez of Jacksonville, Florida, Michael Pham of Fort Worth, Texas, Anthony Pham of Fort Worth, Texas and Nicholas Pham of Fort Worth, Texas; Four Granddaughters, Crystal Ibarra of Garden City, Kansas, Michelle Martinez of Garden City, Kansas, Marisa Martinez of Garden City, Kansas, and Isabella Ramirez of Jacksonville, Florida; Two Great-Grandchildren, Alazai Ibarra of Garden City, Kansas and Erik Lucas Lee of Garden City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tami Martinez. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in the Chapel at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. Inurnment services will be held at a later date. There will be no calling times at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be given to the American Diabetes Association in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
