Obituary of Helen Pelnar

Helen I. Pelnar, age 95, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas. She was born June 17, 1918 in Marienthal, Kansas the daughter of Michael N. and Angelina M. Biel Paul. A resident of Holcomb since 1938 she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary both of Garden City, Kansas. On November 3, 1945 she married John A. "Bus" Pelnar in Lakin, Kansas. He died August 17, 2001 in Garden City, Kansas. Survivors include: One Son, Kenneth Pelnar (& LaQuetta Krieger) of Ulysses, Kansas; Two Daughters, Paula (& Donnie) Nevin of Holcomb, Kansas and Debbi (& Jay) Harris of Lakin, Kansas; Eight Grandchildren, Fifteen Great-Grandchildren and Two Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and six sisters. Vigil and Rosary services will be held at 7:30pm on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Garden City, Kansas. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday, October 18, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Friends may call from 3:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday and 10:00am-5:00pm Thursday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Interment will be in the Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield, Kansas. The family requests that memorials be given to the High Plains Retirement Village in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City.
