Obituary of Ronald Thon

Ronald Irvin Thon, age 89, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Greeley County Health Center in Tribune, Kansas. Ron was born August 22, 1924 in Tribune, Kansas, the son of Charles Hugo & Mary Elizabeth Swilley Thon. He was a lifetime resident of Greeley County and in 1963 he began operation of Ron's Oil Company, semi-retiring in 1992. Ron was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tribune, Kansas On August 17, 1947 he married Doris Marie Mc Cray at Tribune, Kansas. Doris passed away on October 21, 2004 at Tribune, Kansas. Ron's surviving family includes- Three Children Kenneth & Lori Thon- Basin, Wyoming Michael Thon- Tribune, Kansas Rhonda & Mike Moritz- Tribune, Kansas Daughter in Law- Leah Thon- Tribune, Kansas Two sisters Oleta Bergquist- Tribune, Kansas Letha Wishon- Scott City, Kansas Fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. His parents, wife, Doris Thon, son, Rodger Thon, daughter in law, Mary Thon, sisters, Neva Terrill, Helen Martin, Beulah Peterson and Hazel Hoffman, two brothers, Lester Thon and Wayne Thon and a great granddaughter, Julia Thon preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am (MST) Friday, October 4, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Tribune, Kansas with Shannon Schneider officiating. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune, Kansas. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday and from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Tribune, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Greeley County Boy Scouts/ Cub Scouts in care of the funeral home.
