Charles D. Wessel, age 74, passed away at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas on Tuesday, September 10, 2013. He was born on June 20, 1939 in Thomas County, Kansas, the son of Joseph and Mary Mindrup Wessel. A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1969 moving from Oakley, Kansas, he was a Mechanic and Shop Foreman at Wheatbelt Inc. for over 35 years and Henderson's Inc. both of Scott City, Kansas. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus both of Scott City, Kansas. On January 5, 1963 he married Katherine L. Durant in Oakley, Kansas. She survives. Survivors Include his Wife - Katherine L. Wessel of Scott City, Kansas, Two Sons - Kenneth & Toni Wessel of Scott City, Kansas, James & Amy Wessel of Scott City, Kansas, One Daughter - Barbara & Mark Wilbur of Leoti, Kansas, One Brother - Dave Wessel of Oakley, Kansas, Two Sisters - Sister Bernadine Wessel of Wichita, Kansas, Rita Wessel of Hays, Kansas, Seven Grandchildren and Ten Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Five Brothers - Ambrose, Frank, Leroy, Tom and Bob, and Two Sisters - Helen and Mary Ann. Vigil Services will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 16, 2013 with Fr. Bernard Felix presiding. Memorials may be given to the St. Joseph Catholic Church & Caring Hearts Medical Travel Fund % Price & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery in Angelus, Kansas at 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2013. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday @ Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
