Obituary of Dorothy Bishop

Dorothy Maxine Bishop, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Wichita County Health Center Long Term Care in Leoti, Kansas. Dorothy was born November 26, 1924 on the family homestead in rural Kearny County, Kansas, the daughter of August, Jr. & Laura Mae Downs Hahn. A lifetime resident of Kearny and Wichita County, she was a homemaker and ranch wife. Dorothy was a member of the Lydia Methodist Church in rural Wichita County. Her other memberships include Lydia Jayhawkers 4-H where she served as a Project leader and Community leader, the VFW Auxiliary, Wichita County Genealogical Society, Lydia FCE and the Smoky Hills Brigade. On March 1, 1946 she married Leslie Merle Bishop at Leoti, Kansas. Merle passed away on August 22, 2011 at Leoti, Kansas. Dorothy's surviving family includes- Two sons and their wives- Leslie & Pat Bishop- Leoti, Kansas Larry & Cheryl Bishop- Leoti, Kansas Four Daughters and their husbands- Janet & Gerald Kasten- Skandia, Michigan Laura & Charles Medina- Leoti, Kansas Barbara & Pat Ryan- Scott City, Kansas Anita & Mike Ellis- Scott City, Kansas 17 grandchildren 22 great grandchildren Her parents, husband, two grandchildren, Jared Bishop and Victoria Ellis, two brothers, Dallas Hahn and Orval Hahn and a sister, Lois Gardner precede her in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 22, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverends Brad Kirk and Paul McNall officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday and Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Wichita County Long Term Care in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family through the funeral home website at priceandsons.com
