Obituary of Evelyn Whalen

Evelyn Irene "E.I." Whalen age 86, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Wichita County Long Term Care in Leoti, Kansas. E.I. was born April 1, 1927 in Leoti, Kansas, the daughter of Harry Raymond & Hazel Cope Green. A 1945 graduate of Wichita County High School, she was a lifetime resident of Leoti and served as a postal clerk for many years as well as a homemaker. E.I. was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star and several bridge and social groups in Leoti, Kansas. She was an avid supporter and booster of Wichita County school athletics. On January 23, 1946 she married Thomas Whalen at Leoti, Kansas. Tom passed away on March 26, 2004 at Leoti, Kansas. E.I.'s surviving family includes- Four Children- Rosamary Gregor- Healy, Kansas Penny & Greg Smith- San Antonio, Texas Major & Cheryl Whalen- Leoti, Kansas Thomas Rex & Patty Whalen- Leoti, Kansas Eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren Her parents, husband, three brothers, Marvin Green, V.R. (Barney) Green and Thane Green, one sister, Allie Barr, a granddaughter, Mallory Whalen, and a son-in-law, J.J. Gregor precede her in death. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Paul McNall officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas. Friends may call from noon until 8:00 pm Monday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church or the Wichita County Amusement Association in care of the funeral home.
