Obituary of Lee Messenger

Arnold (Lee) Messenger, age 82, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on August 8, 1930 in Eads, Colorado the son of Arno and Blanche Brown Messenger. Lee served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. A resident of Garden City since 1978 he had been a farmer and real estate agent. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dighton, Kansas. He also belonged to the Sierra Club, Kansas Farm Bureau, the Finney County Tax Payers Association, and Americans For Prosperity. He enjoyed playing cards and watching and reading westerns. On June 24, 1951 he married Betty Smith in Scott City, Kansas. She survives. Other Survivors Include: One Son, E. Shane Messenger and wife, Tori, of Columbia, Missouri; Two Daughters, Tanya Messenger and fiancé, Randy Thayer, of Belleville, Kansas and Tara Boaldin and husband, Mark, of Garden City, Kansas; Two Brothers, Donald Messenger and wife, Wauneta, of Garden City, Kansas and Kenneth Messenger and wife, Shirley, of Grove, Oklahoma; One Sister, Peri Neill and husband, Bill, of Hartsville, Missouri; One Aunt, Mrs. Lee (Gertrude) Brown, of Scott City Eight Grandchildren and Two Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, One Brother, Harry Messenger, One Sister, Glenda Burgess and his Step-Mother, Ruth Uzzell. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas with Rev. David Bell presiding. Friends may call from 10:00am-8:00pm on Friday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Interment will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home of Garden City, Kansas.
