Obituary of Chester Jerauld

Leoti, Kansas Chester Morton (Red) Jerauld, age 88, passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Greeley County Health Center in Tribune, Kansas. Chet was born September 10, 1923 at Arkansas City, Kansas, the son of Sylvester & Lottie Hobson Jerauld. He was a 1941 graduate of Arlington High School in Arlington, Kansas moving to Leoti in 1947. Chet was a farmer and a retired employee of the Wichita County Road Department. He served his country during World War Two in the United States Army. Chet was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City, Kansas and the Leoti V.F.W. in Leoti, Kansas. On June 20, 1954 he married D. Darlene Rapier in Scott City, Kansas. Chet's surviving family includes- His wife- Darlene Jerauld- Leoti, Kansas Two sons- Eldon & Stephanie Jerauld- Hays, Kansas Lynn & Debbie Jerauld- Benton, Kansas One daughter- LoVonna Jerauld- Springfield, Missouri One sister- Lila May Williams- Leavenworth, Kansas Two brothers- Walter Jerauld- Canon City, Colorado Morris & Dorothy Jerauld- Corpus Christi, Texas Nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren His parents, one brother, Eldon Jerauld, and one sister, Eleanor Carson, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City, Kansas with Pastor Warren Prochnow officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery in Leoti, Kansas with full military honors provided by the United States Army Funeral Detail from Fort Riley, Kansas. Friends may call from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm Monday and from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas and from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Leoti E.M.T.'s or Holy Cross Lutheran Church in care of the funeral homes. E condolences may be sent to the family through the funeral home website at priceandsons.com
