Kendall is the main character in one of my favorite stories from my teenage years. It always makes the listener smile when I share it. As teenagers in Scott City on the weekends my friends and I could always find someone to purchase alcohol for us. On one particular Friday night we managed to get our hands on a brand new bottle of Crown Royal. We were so happy when we left the Sonic with our almost full Pepsi's, then Kendall showed up...he pulled us over I think we were speeding. I was sitting there in the front seat just getting ready to mix the drinks. The cap for the bottle was not where I left it; I had to hide the bottle somewhere. The car we drove was a 70s model Grand Prix with a huge dash board so I put the opened bottle between my feet and stuck them up under the glove box. Now I waited and tried to look innocent, yeah right. Kendall came up to the driver’s side window, and started talking to us. Well I didn't have the bottle as secure as I should, and it slipped. Now all three of us could hear glunk, glunk, glunk as the Crown Royal poured out onto the floor board. We acted like nothing was wrong and Kendall just kept on talking. The last gurgle finally came out, Kendall smiled at us both, told us to have a nice night and left us sitting there with and empty bottle and almost full Pepsi's. He sure made a great memory for me that night, although I didn't think so at the time. Thanks for the memory Kendall you were one of a kind.

I tell my children stories about officer Thomas or Kendall as all of us kids called him. He was a person we all knew we could count on to watch out for us and give us all some good advice ( like "get home now or I am calling your dad!"). Such a good guy who will surely be missed.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I did not know Mr. Thomas personally. However, I always appreciated him very much and remember him fondly. He impressed me during my teen years, as I know he did so many of us. He was always the officer who seemed to remember what it was like to be a kid, who understood and liked kids. I never found myself operating outside of the law, but as a teen it seemed there were officers who operated under the assumption that teens out having fun were automatically worthy of suspicion. Mr. Thomas was NEVER like that. In some ways, he was like a gentle father figure to us. He was a special man. My deep sympathy goes out to you.

I very sorry to hear of your loss. I know you might not remember me or know who I am. I played in a band with Kendall many years ago called Country Justice. I was the drummer for a couple of years. I was young and was privileged to play with a group of law officers. I had a lot respect for him and liked him a lot. Thanx for letting me share.

Kendall made the world such a better place. I have known him most of my life and never once saw him upset or angry. Just being around him made you feel good. He was so great with the younger generation. When we were in high school all the kids loved him and even when I had kids of my own they loved him too. The world lost a wonderful man and he will truly be missed!!!!

I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Kendall! He was without a doubt one of the most genuine and stand up people that I ever had the pleasure of knowing when i was in Scott City. He will be miss by so many people! This fine gentleman will be as fair and kind of a person in his next life as he was in this one! Very sad news to me! God bless the family!
