Obituary of Forrest Schuhs

Forrest Woodrow Schuhs, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Wichita County Health Center in Leoti, Kansas. Forrest was born April 2, 1919 at Lamont, Kansas, the son of Stephan T. & Neva McVey Schuhs. He was a graduate of Ft. Hays State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in education. A resident of Leoti since 1969, he was an educator for the Wichita County school system for eighteen years. Forrest proudly served his country in the 8th Army Air Force during World War Two. He attended seminary and served the Lord as an ordained minister who volunteered his time at Horace Bible Church in Horace, Kansas. Forrest was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the V.F.W., both of Leoti. On May 24, 1947 he married Wanda Mae Smith at Dresden, Kansas. Forrest's surviving family includes- His wife Wanda Mae Schuhs- Leoti, Kansas Six sons- Stephen Schuhs- Leoti, Kansas Mark Schuhs- Omaha, Nebraska David Schuhs- Olpe, Kansas Phillip Schuhs- Leoti, Kansas Jon Schuhs- Leoti, Kansas James Schuhs- Phoenix, Arizona Two sisters- Nellie Booth- Goodman, Missouri Dorothy Robinson- Wichita, Kansas Six Grandchildren, Three great grandchildren Five siblings precede him in death. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 5, 2010 at the Assembly of God Church in Leoti, Kansas with the Reverend Ralph Russo officiating. Burial will be in Leoti Cemetery, Leoti, Kansas with full military honors provided by the United States Army Funeral Detail, Fort Riley, Kansas. Friends may call from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Assembly of God Church or the Wichita County Health Center in care of the funeral home.
