Ethelyn Georgia Settles, age 86, passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas. She was born March 18, 1926, in Gove, Kansas the Daughter of George C. and Mabel E. Lillia Roemer. A longtime resident of Scott City she had taught at a country school was a school bus driver and worked as a florist for several years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas. On June 6, 1948 She married Vincent E. Settles at her parents home in Healy, Kansas. He passed away on May 1, 1996 in Scott City, Kansas Survivors include: One Son, Steve (& Kathy) Settles of San Angelo, Texas One Daughter, D'Ann Markel of Scott City, Kansas One Brother, Reece (& Delores) Roemer of Healy, Kansas Five Grandchildren, Jeff & Barry Markel, Jennifer Young, James Settles and Kelly Randell Six Great Granddaughters, Marissa & Madison Markel, Laura Bean, Alyssa Randell, Kathryn Young and Lyla Settles She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband and two Brothers. Graveside services will be held at 9:30am on Monday, April 2, 2012 in the Healy Cemetery in Healy, Kansas. Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Monday at the United Methodist Church in Scott City with Rev. Dennis Carter presiding. Friends may call from 1-8pm on Sunday at the Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Park Lane Nursing Home or to the United Methodist Church both in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home.
