Jerome John " Jack " Wimmer, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. Jack was born February 24, 1927 at Marienthal, Kansas, the son of John & Aurelia Winter Wimmer. He was a farmer and rancher, semi- retiring in 1984 and drove a school bus for USD 467 from August of1987 until February of 2004 and had been a lifetime Marienthal, Kansas resident. He was a craftsman and could create anything from a piece of wood. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jack was a member of- St. Mary Catholic Church- Marienthal, Kansas Knights of Columbus- " Kansas Livestock Assn, National Rifle Assn and the American Milk Producer Assn.
On August 10, 1948 he married Celine Therese Baker at Marienthal, Kansas. She survives. Jack's other surviving family members include- One son and his wife- Cary & Krista Wimmer- Garden City, Kansas Four daughters and their husbands- Jackie & Ron Schreibvogel- Holcomb, Kansas Nancy & David Berning- Marienthal, Kansas Celine ( Cindy ) & Kevin Govert- Tribune, Kansas Gail & Bill Hunt- Marienthal, Kansas Fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by twin sons, David and Donald Wimmer; five brothers, Edward, Fritz, Pete, Vincent and Albin Wimmer and four sisters, Theresa Grant, Adel Arnburger, Sister Patralia Wimmer and Jean Eder.
Vigil Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marienthal, Kansas with Father Benjamin Martin officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Marienthal, Kansas.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, Kansas.
