Betty Ann Elder

Betty Ann Elder was born to William and Glady Marie (Couch) Blau March 16, 1936, in Logan County, Kansas, the eighth of nine children – five girls and four boys. She graduated from Wichita County Community High School in Leoti, Kansas. On November 20, 1955, Betty married Richard ‘Dick’ Elder of Wichita County. In 1968, the couple and their two sons, Larry and Marvin, moved to the existing family farm in rural Greeley County. At the age of 84, on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, Betty passed in their home.   

 

Betty worked for an all-women’s processing crew, was a lifetime member of both Leoti and Tribune communities, a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW #7521, member of the Methodist faith, active in the Leoti Quilt Guild, and a volunteer at the Community Thrift Store in Leoti. Betty loved quilting and sharing that gift with others. She was known for her homemade bread. 

 

Survivors include: Two sons - Larry (Terry) Elder of Leoti, Kansas, Marvin Elder of Leoti, Kansas; Four grandchildren - Toby Harbin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brady (Renee) Harbin of Leoti, Kansas, Ashley Woods of Leoti, Kansas, Levi (Simone) Elder of Leoti, Kansas; Five Great-Grandchildren - Bailey Preedy, Madison Harbin, Colton Harbin, Walker Woods, Juliet Elder.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters and brothers: Ruby Wilson, Irene ‘Della’ Heinitz, Dorothy Jordan, Mary Billinger, Maxine Peterson, Rodney Blau, Orville Blau, William ‘Bill’ Blau, Jimmy Blau.

 

Visitation will be at Price & Sons Funeral Home of Leoti from 10-8 pm on Friday, February 12, 2021.

 

Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church of Leoti on Saturday, February 13, 2021, at 2:00 pm.  The funeral services will be live streamed on the Leoti United Methodist Church Facebook Page begining 5 mins prior ot the funeral service.

 

Interment will be at the Leoti Cemetery immediately following the funeral services.
